Rangers FC has built a new £13 million complex at Murray
Park, Glasgow, which includes a players hydro-therapy pool and a leisure
suite containing a spa, sauna and steam room. With the help of tailor-made
control panels from leading switchgear supplier Moeller, specialist contractor
Eagle Leisure installed these facilities in record time.
Les Wade, Eagle Leisure's Technical Sales Director said: "We provided
Moeller with a detailed specification of our requirements. Moeller, using its
KeyBuild
facility, a dedicated build-to-order service, produced a main control panel for
the hydro-therapy pool, sauna and steam room, together with a control panel for
the spa with a remote switching capability."
Perhaps the most interesting feature is the hydro-therapy pool, which
has a moving floor system allowing a depth from 1.8 to 0m to be selected. For
this, the main control panel needs to service a large number of requirements,
covering control of not only the floor, but also circulation pumps, chemical
systems, ozone hygiene control, heating pumps, underwater lamps and a
fluvo-message system together with a counter current swimming machine.
To control the spa, the control panel incorporates a main circulation
pump, booster pump, air blower, heater, chemical system and underwater lights.
An infra red control facility allows the spa's air blower to be turned on and
off remotely.
KeyBuild is a custom service based on
Moeller's industry-leading range of switches, relays, circuit breakers and
related products. The control panels built for the project used the company's
RMQ Titan
switches, PKZM0 motor protective circuit breakers, DILER
contactors, residual current circuit breakers (RCCBs) and enclosures.
The main control panel has a steel, IP65 rated enclosure with full RCCB
and earth leakage protection. RMQ Titan push button selector switches complete
with an LED status indicator activates each system. Circuit breaker tripping is
indicated by an LED.
Wade said: "As well as looking good, the RMQ Titan switches use LED's
rather than filament bulbs, so lasting longer, reducing current consumption and
heat dissipation."
The spa control panel has a thermo plastic enclosure rated at IP66 with
a three-way RMQ Titan switch, push button starts and indicator lights for
system running and not running. The air blower for the spa is linked to a
Moeller standard ETR4 timer, programmed for 10 minutes run time. Using this
simple-to-set microprocessor technology, any time can be set to an accuracy of
a hundreth of a second.
Wade added: "RMQ Titan's high protection rating and extended operating
temperature range make it ideal for the damp environment of the spa."
From Eagle Leisure's technical specification sheets Moeller's local
engineering team provided an end to end solution within six weeks. Backed by
local Moeller distributors, Moeller's KeyBuild provides an ideal flexible
solution to customer needs.
KeyBuild
The KeyBuild facility is a dedicated build-to-order service that offers
