Banger Racing Puts Moeller’s Titan Push Buttons to the Test

[picture of stock car racing]Moeller RMQ-Titan push buttons have been put to use as starter controls in stock cars at the Standlake Arena short oval raceway near Oxford.

Both full contact bangers and several hot rod classes compete fortnightly on the quarter mile circuit, where safety is regarded as the highest priority. As a result, simple, clear, easy to operate controls are essential and the RMQ-Titan push buttons provide a quick, easy and safe system to quickly shut off a car's electric fuel pump in the event of a fire. The Titan buttons also allow a competitor to quickly re-start a stalled engine, which can make the difference between winning and losing a race.

Mounted in steel or polycarbonate enclosures, RMQ-Titan offers excellent mechanical protection and IP67 defence against water and mud ingress for harsh outdoor applications. LED indicator lamps with 100,000 hours (11.5 years) life-span give bright reliable indication, even in outdoor situations, and can also be used to warn drivers of any technical problems the car may be experiencing.

"Racing bangers and stock cars does not have to be a dangerous sport," commented Paul Bennett, Product Manager for Industrial Automation at Moeller and an experienced banger racer himself. "Drivers need to take the correct safety precautions to give them peace of mind and allow them to perform to the best of their ability. The Titan push buttons are a must for this kind of racing," he concluded.
