Moeller's XBoard consumer unit will save electrical installers significant
amounts of time when it comes to wiring and installation. Aesthetics have
also played an important role in the design as consumer units are now
finding their way out of under-stair cupboards and into prominent
positions. These units suit modern contemporary settings rather than
looking like a bulky, squared off and impersonal box of wires.
To make wiring easier, the back panel sidewalls are very shallow and there is ample wiring space across the full length of the busbar. In addition, there is significantly more space above the components (compared to other units on the market) giving installers more freedom of movement and space for wiring operations. Distinct zones make wiring more definable and neater. The clip-on shrouding covers all live parts. The XBoard is a lot more tolerant of problems that may exist when mounting. The XBoard's front cover or lid overlaps, rather than meets, the sidewalls of the back panel, so any unevenness of the mounting surface is hidden. The lid is simply secured in place using two captive screws and, once in place, makes the entire structure rigid enough for everyday use. The cover is designed with a stay-open facility and a lockable option is available. Additional features making life easier for installers include freely configurable RCD ways on split-load boards and forked busbars for more reliable connections. The earth and neutral terminal blocks are fully rated to 100A.
