Position switches for every application

Position switches are the connection element between machine and control. Moeller is one of the world-wide pioneers in the area of position switches.

The new, innovative "LS-Titan®" range is the natural evolution of a very good product, with:

modular design,
maintenance-free and vibration protected cage-clamp terminals,
interchangeable switching contacts with various, exchangeable operating heads.

The new position switches are quick and easy to install, highly flexible and safe. The modular range means the right product is available for every application: in the robust metal enclosure (LSM) for harsh applications or in the totally insulated plastic version (LS) removing the earthing requirement.

All devices are actuated mechanically and are particularly suitable for use in safety-relevant circuits intended for protection of personnel and machines.

The bright yellow enclosures and operating heads make it unmistakably clear that you are dealing with a safety component. "LS-Titan®" conforms with safety category 3 to EN 954-1 of the Machine directive. The mechanically made contacts act positively: All break contacts have a positive opening function conforming to IEC/EN 60947-5-1, so can be used in circuits intended for safety purposes.

Robust housings – totally insulated or metal

[picture of LS-Titan and RMQ-Titan] The fully insulated plastic housing conforms to protection class II. They are simple to install and do not require a protective earth terminal. This saves wiring time and precious tooling time.

Die-cast metal enclosures (protection class I) are available for applications in harsh operating environments. These are particularly suitable for applications such as welding systems, as they are resistant to airborne sparks.

All basic units are standard sizes conforming to EN 50047. The operating heads can be rotated through 4 x 90° and can be combined with every basic unit. Equipped with double-break contacts, they are also suitable for use in the configuration of redundant safety circuits.

The terminations are equipped with maintenance-free and vibration protected cage-clamp terminations. The largest terminal capacity allows the connection of solid and flexible connection cables with conductor cross-sections from 0.08 to 2.5 mm².

Mounting

The operating heads can be fitted in all four directions (4 x 90°) and quickly and easily installed with a bayonet catch.

After the position switch has been fitted, the operating head can be easily adjusted to suit the required direction of motion.

Combined with RMQ-Titan®

Flexible, safe and a high degree of protection

Control circuit devices from the RMQ-Titan® range can be combined with the LS-Titan® switches; pushbuttons, mushroom actuators, selector switches, keyswitch actuators and emergency-stop actuators can be snapped onto every position switch as operating heads!

The entire front and rear sides of the unit have at least IP 66 enhanced degree of protection. This innovative solution from Moeller opens up a whole new range of applications. The combination of position switch with control circuit device gives a control device with a defined snap-action operating behaviour. Operation is initiated by the control circuit device; the abrupt switch change acts on the contact system of the position switch.

The complete unit has very compact external dimensions (30 x 30 x 50 mm), minimising the space taken up in the control panel.
