Reducing the amount of cabling and the time required to install it
is an important consideration in any industrial system. Less cabling
essentially means lower costs, fewer potential problems and better
reliability.
This is why the Actuator/Sensor Interface (AS-I) standard was developed
and is now being adopted by leading manufacturing and processing companies
around the world. Now, Moeller Electric has introduced an AS-I module for its
easy 600 range of intelligent programmable relays bringing a new
networking dimension to this highly versatile device.
This unit will act as a slave on the AS-I network, transmitting and
receiving interlock signals from the master controller. Several Easy units may
be installed onto one network, allowing remote processing to be achieved on the
I/O network. This facility is ideal for the control of modular machinery on a
single network.
Providing twelve inputs, and six relay or eight transistor outputs the
easy 600 series is well-equipped for complex control tasks. There is a
choice of 115/230V AC or 24V DC units, each allowing a total of 121 lines of
control circuits to be entered, giving users plenty of space for applications
and subsequent modifications or extensions.
The easy controls the function of twelve markers, two timing
relays and four counters. Even in the case of power failure or accidental
disconnection the relay is able to remember switch positions and values. As a
result functions such as hours run can easily be implemented.
Wiring diagrams are clearly shown on the unit's four-line LCD screen.
This allows detailed information such as alarms, temperatures, and
timer/counter values to be shown, enabling users to quickly check important
parameters and system status.
