Press ReleaseMoeller Delivers Flexibility with the easy Control Relay and Profibus
Amid the rapid growth of fieldbus systems in manufacturing, building and process automation, the Profibus system is emerging as the leading solution. Moeller is combining its range of easy control relays with the Profibus solution to deliver the ultimate in flexibility when it comes to disseminating control function away from the central system. Profibus DP (Decentral Periphery) has been designed especially for communication between automation control systems and distributed I/O at the device level. Profibus DP can transfer large amounts of data typically up to 128 Bytes can be transmitted per station with a maximum of 126 stations at a distance of up to 1200m. Moeller's easy control relay has been developed to be utilised in systems where the user needs to control multiple operations from one source. When combined with the Easy204-DP bus module, the easy control relay allows the user to gain access to the complete easy parameter set simply via the bus. Profibus delivers many distinct advantages to the user over hard wired systems such as increased interference immunity, reduced cabling, lower installation costs and less faults. More importantly manufacturing flexibility increases through improved plant productivity, reduced downtime, accurate/reliable diagnostic data and reliable digital transmission technology. For example, in automated food manufacturing the need for the control of multiple mixing vats can be achieved through the easy control relay and the Profibus DP interface. The easy control relay offers local control of each of the mixers whilst the process interface allows conversion to a central controller or a supervisory network. Profibus transmission technology is based on two-wire twisted pair cable. Connecting the devices in multi-drop topology permits the addition and removal of stations or step-by-step commissioning of the system without effecting the other stations. Later expansion has no effect on stations that are already operational. Recognising that product support is a key element in its dealings with its customers, Moeller's Technical Support staff are on hand to help select the right component for an application. In depth product support is provided by a UK based, technically biased Product Management team, working closely with Moeller engineers and our factories in Germany and around the world. More information on any Moeller product can be found on this website.
