Moeller Electric has extended its range of MV4 graphical touch panels, offering stainless steel case fronts, protection rated up to IP65, that are ideal for the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The panel's glass protective surface has not only a non-reflective coating to ensure clarity, it also offers scratch, acid and alkali resistance for the most demanding of industrial applications. The MV4 brings state-of-the-art control, with clear graphics allowing visualisation of even the most complex of production systems combined with instant infra-red touch screen technology.

Through the availability of more than 40 protocols including Profibus DP, Modbus, Siemens and MPI, the panels are easily integrated with a host of PLC systems.

The MV4's high performance configuration and operating software allows the user to quickly set up panels for practically any application. Compatible with Windows and Windows NT, the software can process the most complex of visualisation tasks. MV4 projects can be tested on a PC with the Galileo Project Inspector, allowing thorough simulation and debugging prior to commissioning. The project can also be tested online in conjunction with the PLC.

The MV4 is available in a range of sizes, with 5.7, 10.4 and 15-inch touch screens. Clear sharp images are provided by a 256 colour/greyscale LCD with 320 x 240 resolution for the 5.7-inch, 640 x 480 for the 10.4-inch, and 1024 x 768 for the 15-inch display. STN colour/monochrome displays are available in the 5.7 and 10.4 inch sizes, while TFT colour is available on the 10.4 and 15 inch versions.

Also available is the MV4-600 range, designed to run on Windows CE for portable applications. The MV4-600's colour TFT display is available in 10.4 and 15-inch versions. The display's communications capabilities include: Ethernet 10/100MB interface, parallel EPP/ECP printer interface, and serial interface. Additionally, two slots for communication cards allow bus connection based on any of the main fieldbus protocols such as Profibus DP, MPI and so on. Program and data storage is supported by two PCMCIA slots.

Security for the MV4's operating system is provided by a rigorous password protection system, and its sophisticated graphics capability, allows bitmap images to be imported and an extensive trending capability. On any graph the visible area can be moved and zoomed in on, while a graduated ruler can be inserted for more precise interpretation.
