The DIL M vacuum contactor range now includes products with AC3 ratings from 580A to 1,600A, and is an ideal choice for controlling large motors for applications such as compressors, pumps and mixers in industry and bow-thrusters in ships. The use of long-life vacuum switching elements makes DIL M contactors a particularly attractive option where frequent operation is required. In addition, the completely sealed construction of the switching elements allows reliable functioning even in adverse environmental conditions, and also ensures that no arc by-products can escape into the atmosphere. As well as their compact construction and their long-life switching elements, all DIL M vacuum contactors feature a sophisticated electronic coil control system. This reduces the pick-up consumption to 21% and the sealing consumption to just 4% of the values required by a typical conventional contactor. This means that smaller less costly control transformers can be used, the overall energy efficiency of the control system is enhanced, and the amount of heat generated in the control panel is dramatically reduced. The advanced coil control system also optimises the closing force of the contacts, further increasing the operating life of the contactors. The system features an integral suppressor circuit, and has been designed to allow direct operation from inexpensive low-current PLC output channels. To complement its DIL M vacuum contactors, Moeller Electric offers a full range of versatile electronic motor protection relays. Also available are DIL M air-break contactors with AC3 ratings up to 500A, and DIL H vacuum contactors for use with resistive loads, which have AC1 ratings up to 2,000A.
