Press Release

Moeller Electric’s xEnergy is Built for the Regs!

[picture of xEnergy units]Electrical installations that aid compliance with Part L2 of the Building Regulations – which requires occupiers of buildings to be able to show where they are using energy – are easy to implement with the new xEnergy range of modular distribution switchboards from Moeller Electric.

Designed from the outset with Part L2 in mind, the new switchboards allow comprehensive monitoring and metering facilities to be added easily at any stage in the design and build process – even after the switchboard has been installed on site.

To install metering, all that's needed is to replace the plain enclosure door with one that's fitted with a metering and display unit. Provision is made for the associated current transformers to be readily accommodated – it's never necessary to shoehorn them into cramped and inconvenient locations such as cableways, as is required with many other types of switchboard.

In addition, xEnergy boards allow Moeller Electric's compact high-performance NZM moulded case circuit breakers, which are available with ratings from 63A to 1,600A, to be used for both incoming and outgoing ways.

When fitted with electronic trip units, NZM breakers offer a wide range of additional monitoring and communication facilities, including real-time reporting of phase currents and trip conditions. This makes it straightforward and inexpensive to implement comprehensive remote monitoring arrangements, even when there is a requirement for data to be captured separately for every incoming and outgoing circuit.

Ideal for use in building infrastructure applications involving currents up to 4,000A, xEnergy switchboards are based on function modules that are type tested in line with BS EN 60439-1. Because of their modular design, the boards can be configured rapidly and cost-effectively to produce type-tested assemblies to meet almost any requirement needing internal separation up to Form 4.

Moeller Electric offers xEnergy switchboards in flat-packed versions that make storage and handling easy, or in partially assembled versions that reduce the assembly time needed after delivery. The boards can also be arranged to comply with specific national requirements, such as DIN VDE, CEI, NF and UNE, allowing them to be used as the basis for customised solutions for many different markets around the world.
