HMIs go to New Levels of Intelligence

[picture of XV400 units]Machine manufacturers across almost every industry use HMIs in applications that require clear operator information, combined with flexible control facilities. These are invariably connected to a control PLC, for sequencing of the machine. Moeller has taken this one stage further and made control even easier by launching a new range of HMI/PLC units combining the best of both worlds.

The XV400 series offers manufacturers a solution that integrates a graphic operator panel with either infrared or resistive touch screen with high performance compact PLC, all in a single device. By combining the technologies, the system designer can reduce design time as well as increase programming efficiency.

An integrated Ethernet interface enables both programming and data access via FTP directly on the unit as standard. This offers big advantages to the end user where management information is important and fast diagnostics ensure minimum down time in the production environment.

Also implemented is a live WEB server, enabling remote access to the machine or process using only an Internet browser. This avoids any issues of licensing and version control throughout the maintenance team.

Configuration of the units is equally flexible. The control environment is programmed using the well-established CoDeSys programming tool. This offers editors for ladder diagram, function block or structured text, as well as off line simulation and pictorial program test facilities.

Display configuration offers a choice of the high specification graphical Galileo software or the user-friendly EasyPageMachine (EPAM) system. Based upon MS Excel, the EPAM system offers very high visibility for the whole project, coupled with the flexibility of the MS Excel environment.

Available in 5.7, 10.4, 12 and 15-inch versions, the XV400 HMI/PLC system offers a comprehensive solution to any machine or plant control application.
