Rapid Link

Advancing Your Existing Technology with a New System

[picture of Rapid Link units]
Rapid Link is an AS-i capable switchgear and installation system from Moeller. Wherever electrical drives are to be installed or controlled, Rapid Link components make the job easier.

Rapid Link brings significant efficiency savings to horizontal conveyor systems. Quick and error-free installation and a high degree of protection IP65 are key benefits of this new system.

Rapid Link can save money, time and effort in engineering, commissioning, and in the event of equipment having to be exchanged during servicing.

Additional Benefits

  • High level of system availability due to clear diagnostics features and user-friendly service interfaces.
  • Ability to exchange components during ongoing operation without the necessity to power down the system (hot swap).
  • Open communication using standardized bus systems enables the use of distributed system types.
  • The clear separation between the installation and operating areas enhances system transparency.

Rapid Installation in IP65

The Rapid Link components are supplied with 400V or 24V via a flexible, 7 x 2.5 mm² current busbar. Units can be set at any position along the flexible busbar using plug or screw junctions. The yellow flat conductor of the AS-interface runs parallel to the busbar. The insulation displacement technology used in the flexible busbar and the AS-I cable ensures connections are always trouble-free and need no wire stripping.

The Disconnect Control Unit (the switch)
This control unit combines the main switch and maintenance switch, as well as cable protection, in a single device. The main switch is implemented as switch- disconnector or motor-protective circuit-breaker. As an option, the switch position status can be communicated to the PLC via AS-i.
The Interface Control Unit (the interface)
This control unit forms the gateway to the open fieldbus. This gateway solution affords a high degree of vendor independence, and the AS-i interface provides ideal combination options with any sensors or actuators on the market.
The Motor Control Unit (the starter)
This control unit carries out the starter function, operating as direct-on-line or reversing starter with electronic motor protection from 0.18 to 2.2 kW. Setting is straightforward via AS-i or by DIP switches, with their own advantages. The wide motor-protection range in a single device significantly reduces stock-holding costs.

The Speed Control Unit (the speed regulator)
This control unit is a frequency inverter that serves to actuate variable-speed drives. The pre-set ramp-up settings integral to the device, as well as set-point values, can be selected via the AS-Interface. To set other parameters, you merely need to connect the manual control device.
The Operator Control Unit (for operating)
This control unit includes command and signalling devices, enabling the user to control all the constituent units of the system which cannot be operated manually. The functions are assigned via the control program. The keys are laser-etched to suit your application.
The Function Control Unit (for local intelligence)
Designed as an application-oriented, compact, local control unit, it ensures advance processing of the I/O signals, for instance, when controlling an accumulating conveyor, etc. The higher-level control system only has to communicate with the unit as to how the goods are to be conveyed; and the display outputs the operational status as plain text message.
